| Membership The ACP is
recognised by the Royal College of Physicians and the
Department of Health as the specialty association for
medical oncologists. Its executive committee is made up
of democratically elected clinicians representing the
views and concerns of the membership. Membership of
the ACP gives medical oncologists an independent voice in
the affairs of the Royal College of Physicians, the Joint
Collegiate Council for Oncology (JCCO) and the Specialty
Advisory Committee (SAC), who supervise training and
accreditation. Through this, we have
influenced policy on consultant expansion and have
contributed to training curricula.
The ACP
relies on members' subscriptions for funding, as it has
no endowments and scant reserves. It is a
registered charity and is not funded by the
pharmaceutical industry. The current annual
subscription is just £50 for trainee members and £100
for consultant grades (payable by standing order) which
can be set against tax. Benefits of joining
include:
- free
attendance at ACP CPinT Weekend
for trainees, and New Consultants Weekend
- eligibility
for annual awards and scholarship
- website access
(password protection of this site may be
introduced in the future for reasons of
confidentiality)
Full membership is open
automatically to specialist registrars and consultants in
Medical Oncology in the UK. Others committed to the
development of Medical Oncology can apply for membership
if they have the support of three full members.
If you wish to join
please request details from Alison Norton. Details are on
the Contact page.
