An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time NHS appointment at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) to work as a speciality doctor in the new state-of-the-art UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre. The main area of work will be in the medical daycare treatment service, including triage of acute problems and medical management of cancer in the daycare setting. It will also involve review of patients with a suspected diagnosis of cancer and cancer of uncertain primary site.
The post-holder will be a member of the UCH Department of Oncology and will be joining a friendly and enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team developing both the transfer of work from the inpatient setting to the day care environment and improving the safe delivery of out-patient chemotherapy. The post-holder would contribute to the development and running of the day unit chemotherapy service and be expected to be engaged with review and audit of the evolving service. Occasional cover of the ward specialty doctor is required to supervise emergency admissions to the ward.
This post would be suitable for a senior trainee who intends to pursue an academic or NHS oncology career with an interest in the use and delivery of chemotherapy. This new post provides an opportunity for the postholder to gain experience in the development of a new service, daycare cancer medicine.
GMC registration, MRCP and previous experience in oncology are essential. A higher degree (PhD, MD or equivalent) would be desirable.
