Also a multi-choice exam is coming, possibly the ESMO exam.

The Spring/Summer Meeting took place in Manchester in April 2005. Details here. The slide handouts are still available.

About CPIT

CPIT is a branch of the ACP set up for trainees in medical oncology around the country. We organise at least one Annual Meeting per year although there is usually a Spring and Autumn meeting. We are also involved in liasing with the ACP about training issues such as the curriculum and trainee numbers. We hope to facilitate communication between trainees in the different centres and keep you informed about relevant issues.

This page will be updated regularly with information and links relevant to medical oncology trainees so check back here occasionally.

Information and Issues for Trainees

  • Prizes: The McElwain Scholarship (£3000) and Prize (£1000) are available for trainees to apply for. Further details are here.
  • Curriculum: The curriculum is currently being updated. Download a summary of the new version here and a presentation by Graham Dark about it here. The latest version is at the Medical Oncology page of the JCHMT website here and also for direct download here. Contact us with any comments. This is obviously an important issue.
  • Jobs: You may be interested to know that there are currently around 207 medical oncology consultants and 222 trainees. However some consultant posts advertised in the past year remain unfilled. It has been predicted that there should be 300 consultants by 2006.
  • Look out for the minutes for the Executive Committee meetings to keep abreast of some of the issues affecting medical oncology in the UK.

Resources

  • Here is an Excel Training Log (updated 10/06) you may find useful to record your experience towards CCT. It is consistent with the new curriculum.
  • See the Links section for other useful resources.

Please contact us if you have any suggestions, queries or concerns that we might be able to help with.
