Revalidation

E-mail Print PDF

At the last ACP Committee Meeting two members of the RCP team co-ordinating plans for revalidation came to speak to us about the proposals. Hopefully the process will be effective but also manageable. They are aware of concerns that the process could become a time-consuming paper exercise with little benefit for doctors or patients, so are making every effort to ensure that this does not happen.

It appears that some of the basic requirements may include evidence that oncologists are recording important data on patients such as performance status and treatment toxicities. Also that written communications with other medical staff are clear and useful, for example including diagnosis and treatment summaries in letters to GPs. There are concerns that other health service staff seeing patients are not always able to find out information about oncological management.
